Shoes - Op Shop (I disinfected them before wearing them with no tights, of course!)
This is very 1950's housewife, is it not? Rather appropriate, as I had a lovely day at home today watching Project Runway, sewing, reading, cleaning out my room and having a fantastic long bath. My Dad said the dress reminded him of something his mother would have worn in the 50', which makes me like the dress all the more, as she passed away recently and I see it as a tribute to her. I haven't worn pink for a very long time, but I'm quite liking it.
The skirt that is now petticoats is a remnant of the boho era - it's tiered with tiny pleats and is very voluminous. I'm glad I didn't give it away, it makes the most perfect petticoat.
This is the brooch I bought at the antiques fair I mentioned - I love it, it looks like a quill with a bow at the end of it. It didn't show up in my outfit picture, but I was wearing it!
And, I made a headband! The red velvet skirt I bought wasn't in quite good enough condition to be altered, so I'm planning to turn it into a whole host of red velvet accessories; I want a bow tie, bows on bobby pins for my hair and a bow cuff. But, here is the headband;

I think it's rather Blair-esque.
And, finally, my boyfriend and I went scavenging given there was a council clean up in my area. People were putting out really great stuff - just to be thrown away! I was actually quite sad that they didn't consider donating it to a charity instead.
I found a very cute little hard suitcase - perfect for my mini break to the Blue Mountains next week and two framed prints of Paris in watercolor.

I think they're charming - they're going up on my wall soon!

your dress is so pretty! i am loving girly prints at the moment.
It is such a lovely print. Pink suits your complexion too! The red headband looks great. I've never attempted accessories much. Did you buy a plastic headband and cover it?
I'm a council clean-up scavenger too at heart (but have had to curtail my inclinations due to very small apartment), and I'm sure I used to have a cousin of those Paris prints, very similar but featuring early 60s girls on vespas. Great score (and cute outfit too)
That headband is exactly what I am trying to find to add to my collection. How did you make it? I love bows, I feel like a present whenever I wear them - nicely wrapped!
that dress is pretty pretty
I love the bow, and I think the idea of red velvet accessories is great. And the brooch is amazing.
I love that dress on you, the tones really suit your complexion.
And I'm so jealous of your headband!
You look divine!
Hello! I come bearing more awards for you :D
I covet your headband!
wow I love your blog! I just discovered you from All this Happiness and she was right, you do have wonderful whimsical sense of style. I love how retro it is! your current outfit makes me smile. also as I was reading your older posts, I can definitely relate to your "about me" topic, I also tend to have crazy obesessions that all consume my life until I find a new one, HP is always one of them haha. would you like to trade links?
Love the bow very cute & I look forward to seeing what you make with the rest of it!
Christine - thank you! I am embracing girly prints too!
l. - Thanks! Yes, I bought a plastic headband and covered it with the velvet and then sewed the bow on. It's a little messily done at the ends, but, no one will see them!
Skye - yay, another scavenger! My parents think I am absolutely insane, but such great things can be found - your prints sound amazing!
Danielle - I made it rather badly by covering a plastic headband with the red velvet and gluing it in place and then sewing the bow on top. I'm sure you could make a much prettier one. I too love feeling like a present!
Jane - thank you!
Esme - thank you my dear! More red velvet accessories are to come.
porcelainblonde - thanks! I wasn't sure if I was a pink person.
heather - thanks!
kater - you are too lovely!
Jayne - absolutely! HP fans unite!
