Today I went to a picnic in the Botanic Gardens with Tim and some friends from uni. It was absolutely marvelous, we had a great deal of wonderful food, a lovely mix of people and just the right amount of champagne. I decided to dress appropriately for the occasion (for a change!) and this is my first wearing of shorts and sheer tights of the season. It's still technically winter, but today was sunny and reasonably warm.
I finally managed to tie a long scarf in my hair successfully, so here's how it looks from the back;

This photo made me really excited about how long my hair is getting - I've been trying to grow it after years of having it just above my shoulders. It's also very accurate of the color, if anyone had wondered (different lights can give it different tones).
And, I have to make a new policy regarding comments - time constraints mean that I am now only able to reply to questions or statements that obviously need a response. I am very sorry about this, because I think that if someone takes the time to leave me a comment, the least I can do is reply to it, but I just don't have time to do that and reply to emails and update the blog. I think that replying to emails and updating the blog are more important, as most of you would agree. So, please accept my apologies and know that I read and take great delight in every comment I get and that I will reply to all questions left in comments and all emails of any (reasonable!) kind.

This is a super cute outfit for a picnic!
Im not really a fan of longer, waisted shorts but on you, I am :)
hey honey!
wow, those shorts! i could NEVER get away with them but you pull it off great! think yourself very lucky :D
love the hair scarfy too, i'm a little hopeless at trying to do that as well.
I am so in love with those shorts! You make them look so chic! I always seem to look stumpy with longer length shorts. I don't think everyone that comments needs to be replied to, I'd much prefer to see more of your lovely outfits!
The shorts are awesome!
Great shorts! I found a really similar pair at my local Op... they were fabulous but they were made of Linen and I just don't do Linen - it crushes so easily!!
So sad I've been desperately trying to find a pair like them. You work them well!
x
are we even in the same city?! I was cold today... but you're right, it's getting warmer and more sunny :)
Yay for the shorts! Nice to see something else than dresses/skirts in blogs, too. :) Besides, those look great on you.
I truly understand your decision concerning the comments in your blog. Even though I don't have that kind of problem, I do know that there are always times of hurry in everyone's life and you'll have to prioritize.
The shorts look great on you - I almost bought a washed silk pair like that at the markets yesterday.
It was freezing yesterday though!
The high waisted shorts are terrific on you!
I haven't been on a picnic in such a long time - damn winter!
those shorts look awesome!! love it! and i agree with the other comments, not many could pull them off! it would be good to see you in some differnt colours though apart from red+navy+black :)
i'm adoring your outfit here.
stunning :)
That's such an amazing look, I love that it's all second-hand or vintage.
Ha, I didn't know my shorts were so daring! Thank you, my dears.
And, more color variation and different outfits will be coming soon!
